Saturday 9 March 2024 | SAGE Garden, Moruya
Does saving money, eating delicious food, nourishing your body and reducing food waste all at the same time sound appealing to you?
SAGE and Eurobodalla Shire Council are holding two workshops during Food Waste Action Week this March. You will learn the who, what, how and 1, 2, 3 of preserving food through fermentation and pickling, held at the SAGE Garden, Moruya.
Attend one or both workshops to learn skills that:
Workshop 1: KimChi & Sauerkraut with Alex | 9am - 12pm
Alex is passionate about reducing waste and hates to throw away food that might have a little mould or be a little bruised, but could be used as something else. Alex has been experimenting with fermenting vegetables for years and enjoys the health benefits they give to her and the planet.
Workshop 2: Pickling Vegetables with Hatty | 1pm - 4pm
Hatty, previously of, Strange magic ferments, is a chef, gardener and student of herbal medicine who has a great love of pickles. In this workshop she will share what she has learnt about pickling with a focus on using up what you've got in the kitchen or garden to reduce waste.
These workshops are aimed at beginners or those who are keen to experiment with different ways of preserving and are offered FREE* to attend.
What you receive
These hands-on workshops will include some theory, clear hand outs, tastings, and you also participate in making them. Everyone takes home one jar of the goodies they've made.
We will provide
Both workshops include morning/afternoon tea and delicious tastings of some of the preserves that you will be making in the workshop.
You can donate
You are welcome to bring along your excess jars, garden harvest, wilting vegetables or soft fruits to donate in the stash.
